Kick Start Your Half Term with Bath's Biggest Free Event for Your Family May 2010
Party in the City takes over the city on the first Friday of Bath International Music Festival – the annual 12 day Festival that brings to Bath the world’s best jazz, classical, folk and world music.
Growing every year, Party in the City takes over buildings and public spaces throughout Bath to celebrate music across the city. Catch street performers, chamber recitals, rock bands and more in festival venues, cafes, clubs and even shops!
The evening gets underway with our regular Schools’ Procession, this year celebrating dance. The children’s exuberant parade leads into the Abbey for an epic performance – by a 50 strong male voice choir and Wells Cathedral School Brass Ensemble – of Thomas Wood’s The Rainbow. This commemoration of the Battle of Dunkirk receives its second ever performance – following the premiere at the Albert Hall in 1951 – and marks Dunkirk’s 70th anniversary. Catch folk, classical, jazz, indie and more before the Party ends with a firework display and headline act at the Pavilion: the fantastic bluegrass party poppers from Kansas, The Wilders.
This event is sponsored by Sponsored by Nicholas Wylde Goldsmith Ltd.
